Miraculous Creation

How often do you fully realize the miracle of creation? I was listening to a meditation the other day and one of the statements was, "You are a miraculous creation". I began thinking about all the inner workings of my body and mind and I was fully aware of the truth of this statement.

Most of the time, I go through the motions not fully aware that I'm a miraculous creation. I am grateful for life and my many experiences but I don't often consider the miracle of my body and mind and truly treasure myself as a miracle.

All of us know how important it is to be healthy and take care of our bodies, yet it can still be difficult. If I'm shown a picture of an apple and a donut and asked which one I should choose I know it's the apple. And, there are many times I choose the donut because I want it more. I also regularly choose to stay up late instead of getting enough sleep. And, when I drank too much I knew it wasn't healthy and it made my body sick but I did it anyway. This list of poor choices can go on and on for all of us.

This meditation series about Miraculous Relationships intrigued me because I am always seeking to improve my relationships and be the best parent, friend and partner I can be. It turns out the whole series so far has been about the relationship with myself. As we are reminded over and over again, we must first be whole with ourselves before we can be whole with others.

Is your life magnificent?

The answer is yes. Nobody else can contribute exactly what you contribute to this life. It's interesting this statement can easily sound cheesy or cliche to me if I can't fully grasp it. I believe that's because it's difficult to accept and recognize the gift of life and our selves. It feels like there is a lot of responsibility attached to this awareness.

If we fully recognize the miracle of our creation and our unique selves, would we eat the same things, ignore our basic needs, and make all the same choices? I don't think so.

I would like to be in awe of myself. Not in an egotistical, self-centered way. Rather to fully realize I'm a miraculous creation and view myself this way in all aspects of my life. Then it would be more natural for me to cherish and take good care of myself and to view every other person as the miraculous creation they are also.

In this moment I am aware and it's inspiring.
